WELCOME ABOARD!

Merchant Mariner - 1st Assistant Engineer (Unlimited HP, Diesel)/ ETO - Business Academic - GMDSS Operator/Maintainer - Amateur Radio Extra Class (USA) - WiFi Guy

Most hams & commercial radio folks I meet learned radio as a hobby first. I learned it backwards. I got paid to fix ship communications (and automation) before I ever made a casual contact. I spent years maintaining systems that an RF Engineer designed, following schematics, getting equipment back to spec. The regulations were maritime, the contacts were procedural, and honestly? Kind of boring.

Amateur radio is the opposite. Nothing's predictable. You're building, experimenting, making it up as you go. I'm still figuring out how a community runs on "Will it Ham?" instead of technical manuals, but that's why I'm here. If you're on my site, we likely exchanged a QSO. Glad you're here! 73.

  • ARRL Member
  • Castle Rock Repeater Group (CRRG) - Not a member, but a lurker. Had lots of fun doing POTA with these folks!
  • Placeholder... I want to get involved with more clubs and ARES, but I have to be a little more landlocked first.
  • I will likely update my QRZ page more often than this one. But here's a baseline.
